Changing ink and toner is easy, even if you lose your instruction manual that came with your printer. You can view a quick youtube video that will help you to replace your HP Photosmart ink cartridges. Even if you have an older model printer, you will be able to find a helpful instructional video that can refresh your memory when it comes to changing your spent HP ink cartridges.
Misplacing your owner’s manual for your printer is a common gaffe. Even though you may need to reference the manual from time to time you may misplace it somewhere or throw it away. A lot of people make this mistake and then must look elsewhere for assistance when they need to replace a used cartridge.
The first thing that you will need to remember to do when you are changing your ink will be to make sure that the power to your printer is turned on. Then you’ll have to access the used cartridge by opening up the access panel and then wait for the cartridges to slide down to the right. Once the cartridge has stopped moving you can gently press down on the appropriate cartridge to remove it.
Open up your new cartridge and then remove the pink plastic tab from the cartridge and discard it. Place the cartridge in the open slot but be careful not to touch the print head or to push down on the printer itself for leverage. Once you have placed the cartridge back inside of the slot where you removed the spent cartridge, make sure that it is locked in place. Now you can go ahead and close the access panel and print out a test page to confirm that you have successfully changed your cartridge. Your printer should be ready to go.
